The 1500s have had an enormous influence on Christianity, in both the Catholic and Protestant churches. These two churches were constantly lashing out and fighting with each other. As Protestantism rose and became more popular in parts of Europe, certain members of the Protestant reformation constantly opposed Catholic ideology which sparked a chain reaction of arguments between the two churches. I have recently read the Instructions for Selling Indulgences Albrecht written by Brandenburg, Martin Lutherââ¬â¢s Selections from the Ninety-five Theses, and his letter ââ¬Å"Against the Murdering and Robbing Bands of Peasantsâ⬠, John Calvinââ¬â¢s Institutes on Predestination and the Elect, his Religious Law and Order in Calvinââ¬â¢s Geneva, The Trial ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This would mean they would have to perform the task of going to mass, praying, and anything else that has to do with the Catholic church. Even though indulgences were the Catholicââ¬â¢s suppo sed easy way out of purgatory, peasants who did not have enough money to purchase them found themselves to be out of luck, and priest were known to misuse them. Martin Lutherââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Ninety-five Theses on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgencesâ⬠was written in 1517 in response to Albrecht of Brandenburgââ¬â¢s instructions for selling indulgences. This theses was a bulletin of 95 reasons why indulgences did not grant forgiveness and why they were pretty much a scam and a list of what the Catholic church needed to change. Martin Lutherââ¬â¢s letter ââ¬Å"Against the Murdering and Robbing Bands of Peasantsâ⬠was written in 1525. This document is his response to the peasantsââ¬â¢ reaction to his ââ¬Å"twelve articlesâ⬠. After the ââ¬Å"Twelve Articlesâ⬠publication, the peasant became angered at their standing within them.
